Between 70 and 80 percent of healthcare recipients living at Koyra sub-district in Khulna suffer from diarrheal disease, according to data collected by five community clinics and a sub-district health complex in the area. A shortage of potable water due to increasing salinity in underground and surface water is among the causes, say medical staff. The impacts of climate change are exacerbating the problem in the coastal belt, but community clinics are playing a very important role in helping people fight the situation.

Despite the risks, the area experiences an influx of settlers and tourists, leading to overcrowding and dangerous living conditions.
